Javaris Donnett, better known as Chef Jayvoo, is a force in the culinary world—one whose journey is just as powerful as the flavors he creates.
Born and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana, I grew up in a place where poverty was more common than opportunity, and tragedy felt like an everyday reality. I’ve seen firsthand the struggles that can break people—the cycles of hardship, the violence that steals futures—but I refused to let that define me. Instead, I took the culture, the resilience, and the soul of my upbringing and built something bigger.
Through my passion for Cajun and Creole seafood boils, I turned my love for cooking into a movement, growing to over 5 million followers online and creating a business that reaches far beyond the streets where I started. When I bring out a pot, it’s never just about food—it’s about bringing people together. It’s about creating moments where, even in the middle of struggle, we can celebrate, connect, and for a while, escape.
I’ve worked with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment, including Anthony Davis, Steven Jackson, and Rayshawn Jenkins, and continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of food and culture. From my viral seafood boils to my upcoming cookbook, Wild Cajun: Cooking Game Louisiana Style, my mission is simple: to bring people together through food and to prove that no matter where you come from, success is always on the table.
